November 28th 2004

Charmichaelia                                                          leafless broom

The seeds of this species are found within a beaked pod no more than 2cm. long. Seeds mature in february and if picked as soon as they suggest ripeness can germinate within 8 days. Quick to grow and will flower 2 seasons from seed.

Carmichaelia make excellent pot plants. They can survive the toughest conditions and with their stark, erect or spreading branchlets create a distinct and unique form. The purple flowers are another quality of these endemic plants.
