Tree reaching 20m. Leaves 5-10 cm long, shining green. An attractive and interesting Red berry 2.5-4cm long, of 2 or 3 hard banana shaped seeds.

Found on coastal headlands Northcape to Opotiki. This is one of New Zealand's most beautiful coastal trees that is not commonly grown. It grows with Pohutukawa on the northern coasts.
